Jacob Isaackszoon van Ruisdael was a Dutch artist, draughtsman, and etcher. He is usually regarded as the pre-eminent landscape painter of the Dutch Golden Age, a period of terrific wealth and cultural accomplishment when Dutch painting became extremely popular.
